Universal Musicmaking

In the modern West, music is a discipline of aspiring experts. If you play a musical instrument regularly, most likely it is your job or you'd like it to be your job. Even among hobbyists, it is usually a narrow hobby.

I'd like to help with the creation of tools and methods to change this, so that music can become more like cooking - there are experts you can aspire to with innovative recipe books, everyone does it a little, and it's very fun to do together. Ideally playing music together could be a common activity when friends meet.

My suspicion is that the future of music will be modal, bringing in lots of non-Equal tempered traditions from around the world, and Electronic.
